Real Leather Dog Leash Durable Medium Large Dog Lead Genuine Leather Walking Pet Leads Leash for Dogs German Shepherd Pitbull
$43.99
A 150 cm lead in genuine leather with metal hardware. Leather is heavier than nylon and it costs more, and in return it softens to your hand over a year rather than staying the same stiff strap it was on day one.
What it does
- Real leather. Breaks in with use. A leather lead that has been walked every day for two years is noticeably better to hold than a new one.
- Reinforced stitching and a heavy metal clasp. The two places a lead fails, both built up.
- Comfortable under load. Leather has more give than nylon webbing, which takes the sting out of a sudden lunge.
- Three widths. Match the width to the dog rather than buying the heaviest one available — a 1 cm strap on a Chihuahua and a 2 cm strap on a Shepherd.
Sizes
| Small | 150 cm long × 1.0 cm wide (3/8") |
| Medium | 150 cm long × 1.5 cm wide (5/8") |
| Large | 150 cm long × 2.0 cm wide |
Honest limits
- Use a harness for a dog who pulls hard. A strong lead on a collar puts that force through the throat.
- Leather and water are not friends. It will survive rain, but a lead that is regularly soaked and not dried will stiffen and eventually crack.
- Do not leave a leather lead where a bored dog can chew it — they will, and it is a single sitting.
- Check the stitching at the clasp every few weeks and retire the lead when it starts to pull apart.
- Not a tie-out. Do not tether an unattended dog with it.
