2-Pack Velvet Breakaway Cat Collars with Rhinestones for Girl Cats

What it does

• Breakaway buckle. The clasp pops open under steady pressure. If your cat hooks the collar on a branch, a fence or a cupboard handle, they come free instead of being held there.
• Velvet band. Soft and light against the neck, which matters for a cat who scratches at stiffer nylon.
• Adjustable 9 to 12 inches. Fits kittens through to adult and senior cats. The band is 3/8 inch wide.
• Two in the pack. One on the cat, one clean — or one for each of two cats.

Fitting and honest limits

• Two fingers. You should be able to slide two fingers flat between the collar and your cat's neck. Tighter risks injury; looser lets a leg through the collar.
• A breakaway collar is designed to be lost. That is the trade you are making for your cat's safety, and it is the right trade. Keep the microchip details current — the collar is the backup, not the plan.
• Never attach a lead to a breakaway collar. It will open under the pull. Use a harness for walking.
• The rhinestone charm is decorative. Check it regularly and remove the collar if the stones start to come loose — they are small enough to swallow.
• Check the fit monthly on a kitten. They outgrow a collar faster than you expect.
