A 48-inch dog crate built as a piece of furniture — a credenza with a slatted front, drawers for leads and food, and a pull-out feeding station. It sits in a living room without looking like a wire cage, which is the entire reason it exists.

What it does

  • Doubles as furniture. Flat top for a lamp or a television, so it works as a sideboard, entry table or end unit rather than eating a corner of the room.
  • Storage drawers. Leads, brushes, toys and a bag of food in one place instead of four.
  • Built-in feeding station. Bowls sit in the unit rather than on the floor.
  • Engineered wood with reinforced metal panels. Solid enough for daily use and heavier than a folding crate, which is part of why it feels calmer.
  • Double-locking doors. Two catches rather than one.

Honest limits — read before you buy

  • It is not escape-proof and we will not describe it as such. It is wood. A determined chewer, or a dog who panics when confined, will damage this crate and can injure themselves doing it.
  • If your dog has separation anxiety, a crate is not the answer. Confining a panicking dog usually makes it worse. Talk to your vet or a qualified behaviourist before you buy any crate for that reason.
  • Crate time should be short and voluntary. A crate is a bed with a door, not a place to leave a dog for a working day. Feed them in it, leave it open, and let them choose it before you ever close the door.
  • Measure your dog. They must be able to stand fully upright, turn around and lie out flat.   • Not for outdoor use. Engineered wood does not survive weather.
