What it does

  • Ceramic blade. Runs cooler than steel over a long session, which matters because a hot blade is what burns skin during a full-body clip.
  • Blade detaches. Comes off for cleaning and oiling rather than being brushed at through a gap.
  • Two guide lengths. A short summer trim at 3–6 mm, a tidy-up at 9–12 mm.
  • USB rechargeable. Charges off anything.

Good to know

  • Build up to it. Let your pet hear the clipper running, near them and off them, with treats, over several days before the first real trim.
  • Check the blade temperature against your own wrist every few minutes during a long clip.
  • Matted coats need a groomer, not a clipper. The skin lifts up into a mat and can be cut without you seeing it happen.
  • Nails: small amounts, and stop early on black nails where the quick cannot be seen. Keep styptic powder in the house before you start clipping nails.
  • Grooming scissors near a moving animal need care — blunt-tipped scissors are safer around faces and paws.
