Smart Cat Litter Deodoriser – Rechargeable, Motion Sensing

$69.99
ColorOp02

A rechargeable odour unit that sits by the litter tray and runs between visits. It works by generating negative ions and ozone, and it pauses when your cat comes near.

What it does

  • Motion sensor pauses it. A sensor with a 3 metre range and a 120° spread detects your cat approaching and stops the unit, so nothing new is being generated while they are in the tray.
  • No fragrance and no refills. It does not mask the smell with perfume, so there is nothing scented for a cat to object to and nothing to buy each month.
  • 4000 mAh rechargeable battery. Two 2000 mAh cells, charged over USB. The supplier claims about 15 days per charge; we have not timed it.
  • Small enough to sit anywhere. 9.2 × 9.2 × 4 cm. It stands on a shelf or sticks to a wall with the adhesive pads in the box.

Honest limits

  • This unit produces ozone on purpose. The manufacturer's own cutaway diagram describes the generator as producing "negative ions and ozone". Ozone irritates the airways of people and animals, and what matters is how much of it builds up in how small a space.
  • So: ventilated room only. Never inside a covered tray, a cabinet, a cupboard or a closed toilet — the places an odour device is most tempting to hide are the places it should not go. If anyone in the house, human or animal, has asthma or any other airway condition, speak to your GP or your vet before running one at all.
  • The manufacturer states its emissions sit within the standard range. We have not seen test data for that, so we pass it on as their claim rather than as a fact.
  • The manufacturer also publishes deodorisation and dust-reduction percentages. We have not verified those either, so we do not repeat them. Judge it by what your laundry smells like after a week.
  • Nothing replaces scooping daily and changing the litter. An odour device in a tray that is not being cleaned is treating a symptom.
  • A sudden change in litter box smell, or in how often your cat uses the tray, is a reason to see a vet rather than a reason to buy a deodoriser.
