What's in the kit

  • Full-body clipper head. For coat length over the back and sides.
  • Precision trimmer. Narrow head for face, ears and around the eyes, where a wide blade cannot go safely.
  • Paw trimmer. Small enough to clear the hair between the pads, which is where matting and grass seeds collect.
  • Nail grinder. Files nails round instead of cutting them square, and takes off small amounts at a time.

What it does

  • Quiet, low-vibration motor. Noise is why most pets object to clippers. A quieter tool is the single biggest factor in whether home grooming works at all.
  • Cordless and rechargeable. No cable to manage around a moving animal.
  • Light in the hand. Matters when a full-body groom takes half an hour.

Good to know

  • Introduce it before you use it. Let your pet hear it running across the room, then near them, then off, with treats each time — over several days. Starting with a clip is how you get a pet who fights grooming for years.
  • Nail grinding: take a little at a time. Stop well before the quick. If your pet has black nails you cannot see the quick, so go slowly and take less than you think.
  • Matted coats should go to a groomer or a vet. Clipping over a mat can cut the skin underneath, which is tight and pulled up into the mat.
  • Blades get hot with continuous use. Pause, check the blade against your wrist, and let it cool.
  • Not a substitute for a professional groom on a double-coated or heavily matted dog.
