How to measure your car before buying a pet seat

Three measurements, a tape measure, and about four minutes.

What you need

A soft tape measure and a note on your phone. Do this before you order, not after the box arrives.

Bench width

Measure between the inside edges of the seat belt buckles. This is narrower than the seat looks and it is the number that matters.

Seat depth

From the backrest to the front edge of the cushion. Anything deeper than this overhangs and tips under weight.

Headrest clearance

If the product straps to a headrest, check yours is removable or has a gap beneath it. Some rear headrests are fixed flush.
